BT Financial Group (BTFG) has appointed Sue Houghton to the role of general manager of insurance, taking over from David Lees. Houghton moves across from Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. where she was chief financial and operating officer.

New Life Risk Competitor Enters for Professionals
South African life insurance company PPS Mutual has entered the Australian professionals' market using a partnership with NobleOak Life and Professional Provident Society SA (PPS (SA)), and a global reinsurer. Thirteen professions will be targeted including medicine, law, and engineering. The company will be owned by its members, who share in the profits of the insurance they purchase. Hires include:

- Zalman Ratzemore - chief financial officer
