Whistleblower research project strongly supported
/The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has welcomed whistleblower research coming out of Australian universities. The research project, Strength of Whistleblowing Processes, has built on the previously-published report, Whistle While They Work, to develop a strong information base regarding whistleblowing practices.
The report looks at factors that influence the responses, both good and bad, to whistleblowing in a range of industries in Australia. The research is the first of its kind in Australia, being led by Griffith University's Professor AJ Brown, with funding from the Australian Research Council. The project examines the levels, responses, and outcomes of whistleblowing in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, but also delves cross-continentally.
The purpose of the project is to provide clearer information on whistleblowing to make improvements in organisations, policy, and laws.
