New Appointments

CBA appoints new CFO
Alan Docherty is the Commonwealth Bank’s new chief financial officer, after acting in the role since May. Prior to that appointment, Docherty was the CFO at the Institutional Banking and Markets division of the company.

AMP Superannuation Trustees board welcome two new directors
Cathy Doyle and Tony Brian have joined the AMP Superannuation Trustee board as independent non-executive directors. Both have vast experience in the Australian finance industry.

JP Morgan AM builds on distribution team
Prema Basoor has joined JP Morgan Asset Management as an executive director, institutional client adviser. Basoor moves across from BlackRock.

Australian Unity appoints research head for advice business
Ian Holliday has moved into the role of head of research services for Australian Unity’s financial advice arm, from a senior portfolio manager role as of 1 November. Holliday replaces Jeff Mitchell.

Challenger appoints new CEO
With Brian Benari departing to retire, Richard Howes has been appointed as the new chief executive of Challenger. Howes is currently the head of distribution, product and marketing, with his new role at the helm commencing from 1 January 2019.

Nikko appoints new director
Nikko Asset Management has appointed former AIST and Tasplan Super director Naomi Edwards as a non-executive director. Edwards will also chair the risk and compliance committee.

Perpetual loses distribution head to Neuberger Berman
Matt Thompson is to leave Perpetual after six years to join Neuberger Berman as the head of its intermediary distribution capability in Australia.
