New Appointments
Lonsec Research appoints executive director
Lorraine Robinson is now an executive director at Lonsec Research, coming on board in December 2019. Robinson moves across to Lonsec Research from Evans and Partners, in a role as chief operating officer for Evans Dixon Corporate and Institutional.
Libby Newman is moving into the role of director of managed fund research. Deanne Baker is moving from the research team into a portfolio manager role within diversified multi-asset portfolios in the investments division. Peter Green and Rui Fernandes continue in their respective roles within Lonsec Research.
CFS and Avanteos welcome independent non-executive director
Greg Cooper, long-time Schroders Australia chief executive, is joining the Colonial First State (CFS) board as an independent non-executive director. Cooper is also joining the board of CFS-owned superannuation trustee Avanteos Investments Limited. Cooper will chair the member outcomes committee, while also serving on the boards of Perpetual and OpenInvest.
LGS appoints new CEO
Phil Stockwell is the new chief executive at Local Government Super, replacing Donna Heffernan who was acting in the role. Incumbent David Smith stepped down in January.
MLC welcomes head of managed accounts
Jason Komadina is MLC Asset Management’s managed accounts head, commencing the role on 29 January 2020. Komadina moves from Perpetual Private, where he was a general manager of product and investments. Kyle Lidbury is taking over Komadina’s responsibilities at Perpetual.
AFCA appoints COO
Jason Untersteiner is the new chief operating officer at the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), joining from the Australian Tax Office (ATO). Untersteiner has been with the ATO for 13 years in managerial roles.
Vanguard makes new executive appointments
The Australian executive team at Vanguard has three new appointments:
Maxim Tambling is the new head of human resources
Louise Eyres is the new head of marketing
Michael Lovett returns from Vanguard in the United States as head of superannuation
ASFA welcomes new board members
The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) has appointed two new directors to the board:
Kelly Power - general manager of product at Colonial First State
Andrew Boal - chief executive at Rice Warner

Departures
Fiona Trafford-Walker retires from Frontier Advisors
Much-loved in the investment consulting space, Fiona Trafford-Walker is retiring into the non-executive director zone at Frontier Advisors after 25 years at the company. Trafford-Walker has transitioned her duties to other executives, and will not be replaced.
David Smith passes away
David Smith, superannuation industry stalwart, sadly passed away suddenly on 22 November 2019. Smith was a leading contributor to the superannuation industry with roles at the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) and a director of HESTA.
