Don Trapnell is leaving the head role after 20 years with the company
Ian Knight is the new general manager of operations (joining from CommInsure)
Michael Jones is the new general manager of legal and compliance (promoted from head of compliance)
Alison Massey is the new head of compliance, advice assurance (promoted from practice development manager)
MLC life loses CEO, Wealth gains technology head
David Hackett has resigned from the role of chief executive at MLC Life Insurance, with a replacement yet to be found. Hackett was the insurer’s first CEO. Sean McCormack is acting CEO and managing director, effective immediately.
Darren McKenzie is the new chief technology and operations officer of MLC Wealth, starting in March 2020. McKenzie moves from London-based insurer, RSA Insurance.
NAB appoints new non-executive director
Simon McKeon is now a non-executive director at National Australia Bank (NAB). McKeon is also a chancellor of Monash University and a non-executive director on the Rio Tinto and Spotless Group boards. McKeon was named Australian of the Year in 2011 and Officer of the Order of Australia in 2012 for his service to business and commerce through leadership advisory roles, and to the community as a supporter of global and local charities and organisations.
MetLife welcomes chief of staff and external affairs
Wendy Tse is to join MetLife in April, moving across from KPMG, in a newly-created role as chief of staff and external affairs. Tse is to advise the company’s clients on regulatory and government affairs while supporting MetLife in translating strategy to business partners. Tse is also to represent the office of the chief executive.
Westpac appoints chair
John McFarlane is a new non-executive director and chair-elect on the Westpac board. McFarlane replaces Lindsay Maxsted in April. McFarlane is an experienced director in the financial services industry locally and internationally.
