IOSCO launching 2020 World Investor Week

The International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) is preparing its fourth annual World Investor Week (WIW), running from 5 - 11 October 2020. The week was planned before the COVID-19 outbreak and will go ahead as planned, with local authorities allowed to choose their own week in October or November as suits, to promote financial and investor education.

APRA recommence policy program and new licence issuance

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has announced it is restarting public consultations on some policy reforms, while also starting a phased resumption of issuing new licences. APRA suspended most of its planning and supervision in March after the COVID-19 outbreak meant companies were focusing on servicing clients and restructuring as needed.

New licences were not being issued during this time of economic uncertainty. The full policy agenda is still tabled, with only some areas being restarted. The agenda for 2021 will be reviewed.
