First Super welcome new director and associate director
Anthony Pavey is a new director on the First Super board, joining as a member representative director. Pavey is the on-site secretary at the Maryvale sub-branch of the Construction Forestry Maritime Mining and Energy Union (CFMMEU) Pulp & Paper Workers District.
Casey Thompson, CFMMEU’s Manufacturing Division compliance officer, is now an associate member director.
Actuaries Institute appoints new president
Jefferson Gibbs is the 2021 president of the Actuaries Institute, taking over from Hoa Bui. Gibbs is a KPMG partner, holding that position for over 20 years.
CareSuper appoints head of customer service, welcomes CFO
Jinglu McLay is the new head of customer experience at CareSuper, moving across from KPMG. Sam Horskins is the new chief financial officer, moving across from VicSuper.
AvSuper appoints new CEO
Michael Skyes is leaving MTAA Super after 15 years to join AvSuper as chief executive. Skyes replaces Michelle Wade who has been at AvSuper as CEO for 13 years. At AvSuper, Nick Smith is the acting CEO until Skyes starts in April.
PIMCO appoints Asia Pacific head in promotion
Alec Kersman is the new head of Asia Pacific at PIMCO, moving from head of strategic accounts in US global wealth management. Kersman, who has been with PIMCO since 2005, takes over from Kimberley Stafford.
CFS welcomes new senior investment manager
Robert Graham-Smith is the new senior investment manager for alternatives at Colonial First State. Graham-Smith moves to CFS from Mine Super as a senior investment analyst.
Australian Ethical makes new appointments, promotes equities head
Keenan Bunning has been appointed to the Australian Ethical distribution team as a senior manager of adviser relationships across Australia. Bunning moves from Perpetual. Mike Murray is the new head of domestic equities, promoted from his role as equities analyst.
Cbus appoints new leaders
John Longo is the new head of property at Cbus. Serge Allaire is the new head of private equity, while James Crawford is the head of equity portfolio construction. Longo moves into the position from ISPT Property. Crawford moves from First Sentier where he had a role as head of investment specialists. Allaire moves into his new role after 17 years at NAB/MLC. Kristin Miller is the new group executive for people and culture. Miller moves into the role from BlackRock and 15 years in Hong Kong.
Departures
LUCRF Super investments head resigns
Leigh Gavin is resigning from LUCRF Super as chief investment officer after five years in the role. Gavin will remain in place until April. While the specific destination was not confirmed, Gavin is reported to be moving on to another industry fund.
Impact Investing CEO stepping down
Sally McCutchan is leaving Impact Investing Australia after four years at the helm as chief executive. McCutchen remains on several boards and committees. A replacement is being sought.
JP Morgan executive retires
Bryan Gray is retiring after a long and successful 20-year stint at JP Morgan, and an even longer career in the finance industry.
UniSuper CEO resigns
Kevin O’Sullivan is leaving UniSuper later in 2021 after eight years to enjoy a more flexible life. A global search is on for O’Sullivan’s successor.
