/BNP Paribas welcomes head of wholesale distribution
Thira Ngoeun is the new head of wholesale distribution for Australia and New Zealand at BNP Paribas Asset Management Australia, an internal promotion. Ngoeun was most recently head of key accounts and research within the wholesale distribution team.
AMP Capital appoints CFO
Nadine Lennie is the new chief financial officer at AMP Capital Investors, for PrivateMarketsCo, AMP’s new private markets business. Lennie moves into the role from Atlas Arteria as head of finance.
Fidelity appoints director of institutional business
Mark Vrkic is the new director of institutional business at Fidelity International, moving into the role from Mercer, where he was head of Australian equities research. Vrkic replaces Katie Constance, who has moved back to the United Kingdom.
AIC loses CEO
Yasser El-Ansary is leaving the Australian Investment Council to take up the head role with the Financial Services Institue of Australiasia (FINSIA). El-Ansary will replace Chris Whitehead, who is stepping down at FINSIA at the end of April 2022.
LGIAsuper welcomes head of listed equities and ESG
Fiona Mann is the new head of listed equities and ESG at LGIAsuper after LGIAsuper and Energy Super merged. Prior to this promotion, Mann was providing ESG analysis for Energy Super.
ASFA welcomes new chair
The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) has appointed Gary Dransfield as independent chair. Dransfield is a non-executive director of Hollard Insurance and of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). Dransfield is replacing outgoing chair Dr Michael Easson AM, who is retiring.
SSGA farewell CEO
Cyrus Taraporevala has announced he is retiring from State Street Global Investors (SSGA), a role he has held since 2017. A new president and chief executive is being sought.
Cbus appoints director
Jason O’Mara and Michelle Beveridge have been appointed to the Cbus board of directors. O’Mara replaces Dave Noonan, while Beveridge is replacing Anthony McDonald. Beveridge will also join the chair of the Cbus audit and finance committee.
Christian Super welcomes investment chief
David Stuart is Christian Super’s new investment chief, taking over from Mark Rider who has moved into a similar role at LGIAsuper, recently merged with Energy Super. Stuart joins the super fund from Tasplan where he was overseeing the merger talks with MTAA Super.
ANZIIF Making a Difference Awards
Ryan Jones of Runacres Insurance won the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) Making a Difference Award for New Zealand. Alana Garnett of Bridges Insurance took home the Australian award.
