Challenger welcomes new CFO
Alex Bell is the new chief financial officer at Challenger after Rachel Grimes resigned. Bell has held several roles within Challenger, including deputy CFO and CFO of the funds’ management business, rejoining the firm after a stint at KPMG.
APRA appoints new chair and deputy
John Lonsdale is the new chair of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) board, moving into the role of deputy. Lonsdale replaces Wayne Byres as chair. Margaret Cole is the new deputy chair. Executive directors Suzanne Smith and Therese McCarthy Hockey are to become members.
Future Fund appoints head of investment strategy
Zong Aw has been appointed as head of investment strategy at Future Fund, moving into the role from ESSSuper.
Aviva welcomes head of APAC
Richard Surrency is the new Aviva Investors’ head of Asia Pacific, based in Singapore. Surrency moves into the role from Franklin Templeton, where he was head of private markets and alternatives for the APAC region.
Vanguard farewells CFO, welcomes new executive
Johanna Platt is leaving Vanguard as the chief financial officer after five years, being replaced by John Oberlies. Oberlies is moving from the United States to Australia. Oberlies has been with Vanguard since 2014.
CareSuper appoints ESG head
Nick Tranotis is the new environmental, social and governance manager at CareSuper in a newly-created role. Tranotis joins from the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors as manager of ESG engagement.
Fidelity welcomes director of institutional business
Satoko Asai is the new director of institutional business at Fidelity International. Asai moves into the role from U Ethical in wholesale and institutional channels.
Investment Trends welcomes CEO, chair of advisory board
Eric Blewitt is the new chief executive at Investment Trends, a return to the business after serving as the chief operating officer in 2012, moving into the role from AUSIEX. Sarah Brennan is the new chair of the newly-established advisory board. Brennan is also returning the company.
UniSuper loses chair, welcomes head of advice
Geoffrey Martin is leaving UniSuper as chair at the end of 2022, to be replaced by Mark Amour. Martin has been chair for five years. Amour is currently a non-executive director on the UniSuper board and is chair of the fund’s investment committee.
Andrew Gregory is the new head of advice and education at UniSuper, moving into the role from Arrow Private Wealth.
TelstraSuper promotes portfolio manager
David Fong, a current portfolio manager of strategy, has been promoted to senior portfolio manager of asset allocation. Fong has been with TelstraSuper for 12 years.
Magellan appoints CIO
David George is the new chief investment officer at Magellan Asset Management, as well as being CEO. Gerald Stack has been promoted to deputy CIO.
