New AFA life insurance sub-committee set up, taking nominations
A new committee, the Quality Life Insurance Committee (QLIC), is being set up within the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) reporting to the board on policy issues relating to advisers regarding life insurance. The AFA is now calling for nominations, with the final committee consisting of 10 members including a chair, deputy chair, and secretary.
CBA appoints new chair
The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has appointed Catherine Livingstone as the successor to the chair position, after David Turner retires. Livingstone has been a non-executive director at CBA since March 2016, and is currently the president of the Business Council of Australia.

AFA awards
The Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) has announced the winners of its annual award for adviser of the year has gone to Darren Johns of Align Financial, Sydney. The Practice of the Year went to Henderson Maxwell, also of Sydney. The Excellence in Education award went to Ascent Wealth Management, with Mal Dobson & Associates being highly commended.
