AFA COO returns as GM policy and professionalism
The Association of Financial Advisers' (AFA) former chief operating officer Phil Anderson is back as the general manager of policy and professionalism. Anderson left the AFA in 2015 for Netwealth, and now replaces Samantha Clarke, who recently resigned.
IOOF appoints national alliances manager
Andy Marshall, a former Zurich sales manager, has joined IOOF as the national manager for alliances. Marshall replaces Craig Joscelyne, who was promoted to national sales manager of platform solutions. Marshall moves across from head of sales at SuiteBox.

Collins Phillips Award winner announced
Victorian adviser Ross Hultgren has won the 2017 Collins Phillips Award, which recognises an Australian Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) member who has taken on a leadership role and made a significant contribution to the MDRT organisation and the broader financial services industry. Hultgren is involved with several MDRT committees.
AFA and ANZ seek 2017's Rising Star
The Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) and ANZ award nominations for the Rising Star of 2017 are open. Advisers with four years' experience or less in advice-giving, who are actively contributing to their clients' financial literacy, could be in the running. Finalists attend a Mastering Motivation seminar, with the winner receiving six coaching sessions to develop their unique advice offering. Nominations close on 28 July and the winner is to be announced at the AFA National Adviser Conference in October.
NIBA regional award winners announced
The National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) has announced two of their Victorian and Tasmanian regional award winners to recognise excellence in the insurance industry. John Farrell of Steadfast Taswide Insurance Brokers won Broker of the Year, and Adam Ware of BJS Insurance Brokers (Gippsland) Pty Ltd won the Young Professional Broker of the Year Award.
