Alcoa welcomes chairman
Gabriel Szondy is the new chairman of the board of the Alcoa of Australia Retirement Plan. Szondy has been the fund’s tax and audit adviser when he worked for PriceWaterhouse Cooper. Szondy is on other boards, including being the executive chair of the Centre for Institutional Investors (CII), a non-executive chair for Frontier Advisors, trustee of Care Super, and a former director of Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation and Military Super.
AMP Capital appoints head of real estate
After Carmel Hourigan left AMP Capital to join Charter Hall as chief executive, Kylie O’Connor has been promoted to the role of head of real estate. O’Connor is the current AMP Capital Real Estate chief operating officer and managing director of separate accounts. Hourigan resigned after five years.
Christian Super welcomes new CIO
Tim Macready is leaving Christian Super after 15 years, with Mark Rider replacing him in the chief investment officer role. Rider steps into the role from a similar role at ANZ Wealth and Private Banking.
Zenith appoints GM
After Chant West’s superannuation and consulting business was acquired by Zenith Investment Partners, Chant West’s head of research, Ian Fryer, is Chant West’s new general manager. Fryer will also join Zenith’s management committee while also retaining his current research and client work.
Franklin Templeton executive reshuffle
After the Legg Mason acquisition has been finalised, a few roles have been shuffled at Franklin Templeton. Vivek Kudva is the new head of the Asia-Pacific region, moving into the role from India and CEEMEA managing director. Mark Browning, managing director of APAC, is leaving. Matthew Harrison will continue to MD for Australia and New Zealand.
Australian Unity welcomes new retail CEO
Christine Yates is the new chief executive of retail at Australian Unity, replacing Matt Walsh who is retiring. Yates moves across from Bank of New Zealand/NAB as chief customer officer for the private wealth and insurance arms.
Cbus welcomes CEO
Justin Arter is the new chief at Cbus, moving from a role in London earlier this year. Arter is a former BlackRock team member, while also consulting for ANZ. Arter replaces outgoing chief David Atkin.
Australian Ethical appoints two new executives, two new roles
Marion Enander is the new chief strategy and innovation officer, while Maria Loyez is the new chief customer officer, both in newly created roles at Australian Ethical. Enander has been consulting with Australian Ethical since 2019, with a number of senior roles under her belt. Loyez joins from Volt Bank in a similar role.
