Departures
First State Super loses deputy CEO
Graeme Arnott has left First State Super as deputy chief executive to retire. The role was meant to finish at the end of June but was extended for an extra month to help finalise plans for the merger with WA Super. The role will not be replaced, and new executive announcements are expected as the brand shifts to Aware Super.
AMP Capital CEO and executives depart
After shareholders responded to the chief executive appointment of Boe Pahari in light of a sexual harassment scandal, Boe Pahari is stepping down at the helm of AMP after only just being appointed. Also due to feedback, the chair of AMP Capital, David Murray, is leaving. John Fraser has also resigned as a non-executive director on the AMP board, and as chair and non-executive director on the AMP Capital board.
Pahari will return to his work for AMP Capital’s infrastructure equity business, as AMP CEO Francesco De Ferrari is now interim CEO as a replacement is found. Debra Hazelton, a board member since 2019, is replacing David Murray as chair, while also serving as a member of the remuneration, audit, nomination and risk committees. Hazelton is also an AMP Bank board member and member of the bank’s audit and risk committees, amongst other board roles.
Pahari was appointed as CEO of AMP Capital on 1 July 2020, however, major shareholders expressed concerns that the 2017 complaint against Pahari was not taken seriously enough, despite the board saying Pahari was penalised appropriately.
Christian Super CIO resigns
Tim Macready has resigned from Christian Super as chief investment officer, after being with the superannuation fund for 15 years. Macready is taking on another role at an impact investment firm, Brightlight Impact Advisory, where he has been serving as CIO since 2016.
