Amazon may accept Bitcoin payments in 2021

Rumour has it that Amazon is considering accepting Bitcoin for payments later this year. An anonymous source within Amazon has told London business newspaper City A.M. the news.

“This isn’t just going through the motions to set up cryptocurrency payment solutions at some point in the future — this is a full-on, well-discussed, integral part of the future mechanism of how Amazon will work,” the source told City A.M., according to the article, while also indicating that Bitcoin wasn’t the only cryptocurrency to be accepted. Amazon has also been said to be creating its own cryptocurrency in coming years. A posting on a job site for a digital currency and blockchain product lead has increased speculation, with recruitment also occurring in February for a digital and emerging payments platform technical head.
