Global ETF FlowWatch - highlights in June issue
/ETF net flows worldwide slowed down significantly to US$26 billion during June 2022, compared to US$82 billion of net deposits in May 2022. Equity ETF products amassed US$28 billion, followed by bond ETF products gathering US$2 billion in net new money. On the other hand, commodity products experienced net withdrawals of US$4 billion. Global ETF assets fell to US$8.8 trillion at the end of June 2022.
In the U.S., equity ETFs recorded US$25 billion in net flows, primarily driven by Equity US – Large Cap accumulating US$25 billion in net subscriptions. Bond and commodity ETFs gathered US$4 billion and US$2 billion, respectively.
ETFs in Asia suffered US$4 billion in net redemptions, driven by commodity ETF products experiencing net withdrawals of US$5 billion. Meanwhile, equity and bond ETFs added US$880 million and US$3 million, respectively. ETFs in Europe saw net redemptions of US$1 billion. Bond and commodity ETFs in Europe experienced total net redemptions of US$4 billion. Equity ETFs, however, recorded US$3 billion in net new cash.
iShares Corp Bd ESG Paris-Aligned Clmt UCITS ETF was the largest new ETF launch in June 2022, attracting US$414 million in net flows. The ETF seeks to track the Bloomberg MSCI Euro Corporate Climate Paris Aligned ESG Select Index.
